ANNE DIMIT–BUCKLEY
Elephant Butte
Mom taught me to sew starting at
age 8. From Jr High on I made most of my own clothes. Then somewhere in the Eighties, I went to a sewing group meeting on quilting. I wasn’t interested , but at the end of that meeting, I was suddenly hooked on quilting, and have been doing it ever since. Mom also taught me “Waste Not, Want Not”. Many of my quilts are composed of tiny scraps sewn together into pieces that become parts of my quilts. Following patterns with intricate planned intersections and making multiple blocks the same doesn’t appeal to me. I refer to my methods as “seat of the pants” quilting, where I start with a vague idea or some pieces of fabric and just wing it until I like the result. I also do scenic quilts and silhouettes of animals and people. |
Many of my quilts are available
or purchase and I do some consignment pieces. “Winter Quilters “ in Truth or Consequences is my quilt group. Contact

SUSAN A CHRISTIE
Truth or Consequences
Throughout the years I have made observations and extensive studies about things which repeatedly capture my
attention and provide inspiration. ‘Nature!' - Trees, Water, Frost, Rain, Light, Wind and Rock in their infinite variety
of forms and manifestations whether great or small, at times visible, often hidden, silent or audible, underground
or disguised, but always in transition. Things we see in part or not at all which exert tremendous far reaching
effects on our planet.

JOHN GARRETT
Las Cruces
Mr. Garrett has been working with the application of textile technologies and imagery to various materials for the past forty years. While weaving remains the theoretical foundation of my work, I have explored and used many other construction methods to connect materials.

I am in love with the process of creating fiber art. Every creation is
a journey involving multiple steps, each offering up a different challenge to be met. |
DURRAE JOHANEK
Truth or Consequences
After spinning my first skein of yarn,
I was hooked. After weaving my first basket, I was hooked. I find it rewarding and even exciting to create something from nothing, especially an item that's functional and can last for generations. ziagallerynm.com |

Katharine Kreisher lives between Truth or Consequences and Oneonta, NY, where she is Professor of Art,
Department of Art and Art History. Her Resumé is long, varied and filled with installations such as those
pictured here. She includes family heirloom textiles, some are reworked in other installations.
Here is her quote from the HEATE'S DREAM installation: "Hekate’s Dream” is part of my on-going series of “Dream” installations, journeys into unconscious narratives, reworkings of memory and myth. This colorfully crocheted and
knit installation is built from funnel-like shapes referencing desert plant forms and flowers. To me it is as if the archaic domestic goddess of ancient Greece, Hekate, dreamed of a desert landscape where distorted plants give way to
surprising blooms, funnels deliver water and disrupting whirlwinds come and go.
Working with yarn and thread and cloth to “find” the imagery, I imagined myself at all ages in half-remembered
rooms conversing with my mother and aunts and grandmothers while quilts and sweaters and socks
emerged under our fingertips.

QUELLE ZINE article here! |
Nearly 100% of my work is created using found materials.
My hunting skills have been honed to a fine art while pawing through second-hand clothing, fabrics, beads, yarns,
rusted metal, and fanciful objects found at local thrift stores, yard sales and on many rambles on desert trails.
This kind of reuse and upcycling gives me fits of pleasure and excitement.
